Ceramic Head Polymita Effervescense

Head Polymita “Effervescence” is a unique ceramic sculpture by Martinez-Pedrosa Studio that explores the intersection of the human form and organic proliferation. Measuring approximately 17" tall, 11" wide, and 8" in depth, the piece presents a serene, closed-eyed figure emerging from a layered, plant-like structure that both contains and reveals an inner world.

The surface is animated by polymita-inspired elements—vivid shell-like forms in yellows, oranges, reds, and blacks—that appear to grow and move across the structure, creating a sense of rhythm and expansion. In contrast, the calm expression of the figure introduces a quiet, meditative presence, establishing a dialogue between stillness and effervescence.

The interior space reveals a more restrained field of forms, suggesting an underlying order within the apparent proliferation, and reinforcing the tension between containment and release.

This work was exhibited at Anexx Gallery in Cincinnati (March 2023) and later at Miami International Fine Art (MIFA) in November 2024, marking its presence within both regional and international contemporary art contexts.

As a singular piece, “Effervescence” operates as both sculpture and narrative—capturing a moment of transformation where accumulation becomes presence and the organic becomes expressive form.
